End of Life services support those with advanced, progressive and incurable illness to live as well as possible until they die. EOL support persons identify and meet the needs of the patient, family and significant others during the last phase of life and into bereavement. Death is an intrinsic part of life, and talking about death and dying is an important part of the end of life support.
The goals of end of life support are to relieve suffering as much as possible and to improve quality of life while respecting the dying person’s wishes.
End of life training covers one of the most challenging areas of life. This introductory training will enable you to develop the foundation skills required to support the dying individual and their family with confidence and sensitivity. To meet the needs of a more diverse population, a culturally and spiritually sensitive approach to end-of-life communication is critical. NCOT End of Life Sensitivity Training is committed to equip students with these skills.
